The four-axle bogie type 690 has been specially designed for use on low-bed wagons (“Rolling Highways”). The low overall height combined with high load-carrying capacity in conjunction with the corresponding waggon body makes it possible to transport HGVs and semitrailers up to a weight of 44 t. The bogie is constructed with an H-shaped frame. The cheeks of the frame are supported via progressive rubber roller springs in which two roller axle bearings are mounted. The bridge of the wagon is supported in the centre of the bogie frame by the rotating pan and lateral sliding blocks. Except for the brake and wheelsets the bogie described is maintenance-free under normal travel conditions.
